Hi @owasco
I'm sry it took me so long to respond to this comment, I lost my internet 8 days ago and it took them the best part of a week to sort it out 😟 Anyway, back in the 'cyberspace' room now 😂
This type of waste could have come from anywhere, anyone. Hospitals used to dump medical wastes into the ocean! We all must do whatever we can to use less plastic. For me, growing my own food has helped enormously.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I have implemented a zero un-recyclable plastics (most containers here in the UK can be recycled at the local refuse dump) policy in my house, and for the last 6 years have been really strict about it, so I don't buy anything where the package can't be recycled anymore. It means a trip to the dump once/month... but that's no chore when I think about how much pain is caused by plastic waste to sea creatures.
However, I've been the hospital a few times this year, and to the doctors for blood tests many times... which has undoubtedly caused plastic waste. It is impossible to avoid this secondary pollution in our society, and will remain so until humans start to view value in a different way, as many (more expensive) alternatives to plastic are available. So many factors and complications abide in the world that mean people have no choice but to use plastics without much consideration, poverty being the biggest factor IMO. But who can blame a person who has barely anything for buying the cheapest product to fit their needs, often contained in cheap plastic poison wrapping.
Good on you for implementing your own strategies to mitigate your plastic usage. Growing your own food is one of the best ways to cut out plastic use for sure 👍
