Although the only Digimon game I've ever played was the PS2 brawler, I can't remember the title, I get how nice it feels to 'meet' characters from the anime/tv shows you like in a game. But that alone can't save this console from failing, huh. I've never heard of that console before, but what I understand from your post the gameplay has similarities with Into the Breach? If yes then I think I would have liked it back in the day.
