Sorry for the late response, had to deal with some things.
Honestly, a lot of platforms will do, but it will take more time to make money with them. Hive is great because you can start earning almost immediately.
Medium is an option. There's a lot of people writing and posting, but that doesn't mean you can't get views and followers. It takes a while, but you can get there. You can join the Medium Partner Program once you get enough views and have enough followers and they can pay you through a service called Stripe that will send money in your bank. I didn't make much because I stopped using Medium a while ago when I had too much on my plate, but I might start again because it would be a smart thing for me to do. Stripe also accepts payments in Hungary, so that's good.
If you can afford to host a personal website, you can do that as well. I did it once a long time ago but I was too young to know what I was doing and I didn't have enough money to keep it, so I had to give up on the idea. If you don't want to worry about e-mail lists and product selling and all that, you can just host the website, get some free default theme so you don't spend too much time customizing things yourself and use google AdSense to monetize it through ads.
If you want to make things as easy as possible, you can get a $12 plan from Squarespace and start a blog. From what I saw you can monetize it with AdSense as well, so you don't have to spend time doing anything else.
Hell, even Blogger can be good enough if you don't care about anything other than posting. Write and post enough, you'll eventually get some traffic, and when you do, you can make some money with (again) ads, through AdSense.
I'm mentioning AdSense so much because it's like the easiest thing to set up and get paid with. It requires very little work and for a side platform that's good enough.
If you want something other than writing, there are other platforms available. Graphic River and Creative Market are two platforms I used to sell design packages. From what I know you can even make money with DeviantArt by selling your work, although I'm not that sure how it works, I never tried it.
I can't think of any other platform currently but there's a lot of them online.
Hive is absolutely great because you can simply start earning immediately. I honestly don't know any other platform that gives you the chance to make some money so quickly with writing.
But if you want a side platform that you can post on from time to time, just as a side thing, Medium is honestly a decent one. It takes longer to make anything, but it's possible. I think I even made a few cents a while ago actually by posting some articles by mistake in the "premium" section.
