It's just how things are.

People who are doing fairly well for a multitude of reasons are always gonna be positive and happy and tell everyone how good of a platform this is because for them it is good. And since those who are doing really well on the platform like this positivity, they promote it as much as they can, and so it easily overshadows the negative aspects of the platform that have already been mentioned before.

The people who are not doing so well just seem like people who love to complain and who just bring others down because they are jealous of those who experience success and so they say negative things.

In theory, it could be easy to make some money on the platform if you begin focusing on the right things. For example, it seems as if you begin taking an interesting in the way the platform works, if you begin talking to people who are "in charge", either literally or through their influence, if you begin participating in different projects focused on "growing" the platform or different aspects of it, or if you being tackling with the technical side of things and talk about it in your posts, you will eventually get to high rewards. At least it's a pattern I've noticed quite a lot here. If you do all those things you will not only attract the attention of whales, but you will also seem like you know a lot to those who don't focus on any of those things. And that might result in getting more and more upvotes and more attention.

It does make sense, in a way. A lot of people here who are in power are very interested in making this platform successful, either because they honestly care about it or because they invested too much money to let it go. Whatever the reason, if you begin trying to grow the platform as well, and you begin working with those people more and more, you will eventually begin to succeed, because you will automatically be associated with them and therefore be considered more important than an average user who posts random things.

The problem is that doing all that requires a bit of work. You need to learn how the platform works at a more in-depth level, you need to begin working towards improving it using whatever skill you have, be it programming, graphic design, technical writing, etc, then you must get yourself involved in projects in order to get to know other people who are aiming for the same goal and you'll eventually begin to meet important people who, through their influence, will help you receive more rewards.

In a few words: you need to make yourself useful where it is needed, and at this moment the most appreciated help seems to be the one focused on improving the platform and making it more and more popular through the development of different projects.

Obviously, other types of content and people are important to the platform. People who take amazing pictures that actually require creativity and work, people who write about their life, and the things they learn, people who write about how to manage money, people who write about things they enjoy, and the list can keep going.

But few of those people get to make a good amount of money and a lot of them either were lucky, or have invested enough money into the platform to make money regardless of the amount of upvotes they receive.

In the end, it all comes down to the way you view the platform and what you're getting out of it. For me, it's worth it even when I'm only making cents. I'm posting things I'm interested in, things I want to write about anyway, and I'm getting some quick rewards for it. It also helps me get better at writing, because here I'm more relaxed than on other websites, like Medium. There, in order to succeed, you must be quite good. Here, I can afford to be more relaxed and make some mistakes, because I know people are way more forgiving and can see past a few mistakes that were made because I was really tired.

The only negative aspect that I consider a bit more serious in my case is the fact that I cannot write anything that requires too much work. I can come up with a 800 words article fairly fast, and I can put it in a post fairly quickly, because I can type so fast. But a serious article, with over 2000-3000 words that is well structured and well written, well, that requires a lot more work and a lot more research. The problems is that just because the article is amazing, it doesn't mean that the rewards will also be the same. It can easily get 30 cents and be forgotten because 5 seconds after you post it 15 people from a poor country posted a picture of themselves, or of their pet, or of a random stupid quote they found online hoping to get $1 because it's a lot for them, and your article won't even be seen properly by anyone.

So yeah, the platform itself has many negatives. In the end, I see it as worth it for me - I can write fairly simple content and get something out of it. I could do that on Medium or any other place and I wouldn't get anything out of it. I also don't have the time or the energy to write incredibly long and really detailed articles, and therefore this platform is great for what I do, which requires little effort. If I'll ever want to do something more serious, I'll either do it on Medium, hoping it gets some attention or I'll make a personal website and I'll post there.
