You'd be surprised how many people stretch their articles to 600 - 1000 words even if the main idea could be explained in half of that. Some of them do it because they want to get more upvotes, others do it to impress people, and others do it because people won't pay attention to your post, even if you write something really smart, if all it contains is a sentence or two.
