Well, it really depends on where you live.

I live in Romania and the minimum wage here is around $340. If you have to pay rent, sometimes the rent is the same amount of money as your minimum wage, meaning you still have to worry about bills, food, clothes, and other things.

Unless you get a better job (or two that pay the minimum wage) or move to a place that is cheaper (which can directly result in even less money being made), things are really damn hard. In case people don't work, a lot of them receive a "pension" of around $100 per month (with my work experience at a normal job being around 2 years, and being paid around $340, the minimum wage, I would receive even less money, meaning $92, if I'd want help from the government, in case I can't find work).

Not to mention that a lot of jobs here offer very little to no advantages except the payment. I've been looking at Germany (where I'll go work soon) and you're being paid for working extra hours, and you even receive free healthcare. Here you're expected to work extra, but you're not always being paid. I worked entire days sometimes that I wasn't supposed to, and didn't get paid an extra dime. It's why I was fairly happy to get the hell out of there.

But obviously that's not the case in the entire country. There are a lot of places where things are better, where jobs pay well, and employers actually take care of their employees. It mainly depends on where you live, and what you can do.

Overall, there are places that are struggling way more than we do. So I guess things could be a lot worse than they currently are, at least for me.
