True, but you have to also ask yourself why exactly not a lot of people comment on other people's posts, and why those that do, actually do it.

I used to do that a lot, when I was using Steemit, up until what I predicted will happen actually happened - the website got overflown with people not interested in producing good content, who only cared about money, and spammed whatever they could just to make a few cents a day.

Every good posts that offered any value were immediately buried under the crap that was being spammed constantly by others, and was never seen again, mainly because there is almost no way of finding that good content on your own. The search system doesn't work very well (or at all in some cases), there is no "recommendations" section, nor a section that offers you content similar to what you normally consume (like on Medium or any other similar website). The same is true, one way or another, at least temporarily, for Hive.

I actually wanted to write about these things in the past, but I didn't really see the point, because I doubt anything's gonna change if I do.

When I started posting mainly on Hive I had several weeks in which I spent a few hours daily trying to find good content to consume, and to my disappointment, it was hard to do it. I specifically searched in the "New" section in order to maybe comment on the content of someone who maybe barely started and would be happy to receive that kind of interaction on their post. Again, to my disappointed, it was hard to find posts like that.

I could, in theory, copy paste "OMG awesome sketch!" or "Wow, what a beautiful picture" or "Nice quote!" to every person who posts pictures, sketches, or quotes, but not only do I think that the comments kind of lose value, because you're literally copying and pasting the same response, regardless of the actual work that has been put in, but it's also kind of obvious that you're doing it mostly to receive attention yourself, not to actually give attention to others.

I am a pessimist, true, but I don't like ignoring problems that are a part of this platform and have been a part of Steemit as well for a very long time, just to appear happy and excited about the platform. I don't like bullshitting people for the sake of receiving attention, nor do I like hiding my complaints out of fear of being judged.

There is good content on Hive, and Steemit, content that deserves to be promoted and showed to others. However, unless you spend your time on the Trending and Hot sections, where you mostly find people who are already successful, you'll waste a lot of time on the "New" section filtering through crappy pictures, crappy sketches, stolen memes and random quotes, to hopefully find that ONE good article/post that actually offers anything interesting.

Maybe being a pessimist is what makes me not spend that much time on Hive trying to find content I'd enjoy consuming, but I don't have hours, on a daily basis, to spend searching for someone that actually needs some attention, who actually creates something cool, and who's buried under the crappy type of content I mentioned in the previous paragraph.
