I'm finally getting closer and closer to the moment in which I can stop writing. Just four more articles, not counting this one, and I'm done.

Seven months of daily writing, while also having a very demanding daily job. That's something I'm going to be proud of for quite a while. Even if doing this didn't really allow me to achieve anything great, at least I know that I am capable of great efforts if I put my mind to it.

I wasn't sure that I'll be able to do this every day, but I did. What's interesting is that somehow I didn't really need any strategy, method, or "secret" to keep myself motivated or willing to write and post. I just did it.

I guess that at times discipline works. You don't really need anything else.

It might help to keep the required task simple enough so that you won't have to put in more effort than you're willing. It's what I did with all this content. I never wrote anything too complicated, because I knew that I couldn't afford to spend more than two or three hours a day writing and editing.

Another thing that helped was to try to never delay the task for too long. I always tried to write and post during my break at midday. I learned to get to know myself, and so I was aware that in the morning I would not be capable of writing anything, and that at night I would not be in any mood to think of anything related to writing. So, I always tried to do my work at midday.

All in all, it boils down to simple discipline, combined with some helpful boundaries and self knowledge. This is both interesting and a bit frustrating. I'm glad that I learned that I can make huge amounts of progress in an area over time, if I can figure out the right amount of work that I'm willing to put in daily. However, it's a bit frustrating that I only figured this out now, after years of trying to find ways in which to motivate myself to work for longer periods of time.

Maybe growing up helped a bit. Maybe it's my surroundings and my current living situation. I can't really know all the reasons for managing to achieve this goal of mine. But it seems that just doing the work, and building up the discipline to do it regardless of how much I don't want to, is one of the key reasons for my success in this endeavor.
