I hope you are all doing well. Today I am back with another simple and cute DIY idea that you can easily make at home. Sometimes we do not need a lot of expensive materials or many different colors to create something beautiful. With just a few things that are already available at home, we can make something creative and enjoyable.

A few days ago, I was looking at my clay supplies and noticed that I only had two colors available at home: red and black. I also needed white for the project I had in mind, but unfortunately, I did not have any white clay. Instead of leaving the clay unused, I thought about what I could make using only these two colors. Suddenly, the idea of making a cute ladybug came into my mind.I thought this would be a perfect little DIY because ladybugs are simple to make, and children also love them. So I decided to give it a try.

Materials I Used

For this DIY, you only need:
Red clay
Black clay
Black marker
A knife for making the line
A white makeup pencil for the eyes
Normally, white clay would be useful for making the eyes, but since I did not have it, I decided to use something that I already had at home.

Making the Ladybug

First, I took some red clay. The quantity of red clay should be a little more because the red part will make up most of the body of the ladybug. Then I took a smaller amount of black clay.

I rolled both pieces nicely between my hands to give them a smooth and round shape. After making the shapes, I brought the black part and the red part together. I gently pressed them with my fingers so that they could stick together properly.
While pressing them, I also tried to give the clay a shape that looked more like the body of a ladybug. You do not need to make it perfectly shaped. Just gently press and adjust the clay until you are happy with the shape.

Once the basic body was ready, it was time to add the details.
For the ladybug's wings, I used a knife to make a line right through the middle of the red portion. I made the line carefully and gently so that it looked like the natural separation between a ladybug's two wings.

After that, I took a black marker and started making small black dots on the red part. These little dots completely changed the appearance of the clay and made it look much more like a real ladybug.

Making the Eyes

Now came the eyes. As I mentioned earlier, I did not have white clay at home. So I decided to use my white makeup pencil, which I normally use for makeup.I carefully used the white pencil to make two round shapes for the eyes on the black part. Then, with the black marker, I added a small black dot inside each white eye.

And that was it! My little ladybug was ready. 🐞

I really enjoyed making this because it was such a simple project, but the final result looked very cute. Sometimes the simplest DIY projects can be the most enjoyable, especially when we make them with things that are already available at home.

The best part for me was my little son's reaction. When he came home from school and saw the ladybug, he was so happy. He told me that his mother had made a beautiful ladybug for him and immediately started playing with it.
So this little DIY became a toy for my son, and he enjoyed playing with it for the whole day. You can also make something similar for your children. If you make the clay properly and allow it to dry according to the type of clay you are using, you can even turn it into a keychain or a small decorative piece.
