Hello, Sketchbook community!
I wanted to share something that, at least for me, has a very special meaning. I’ve decided to give my personal project a face and finally lay its foundations with a signature of its own: the official RAGA logo. It’s a small step, but far more valuable than it seems.
QUICK CONTEXT
This project is the crossroads between music and visual arts, a personal creative space where both the initiative and I are in a very formative stage. Finally having a logo is a small milestone that gets me really excited 🤘
SLOW BURN
I started working on the logo back in 2023. I took my time to get organized, use methods, test, and then—toward the final stages—break some rules (which worked fan-ta-sti-cal-ly well). And yes, you’ll see why I say that.
The first step was answering the project’s “how, where, when, and why.” Then I implemented a powerful creative exercise: creating a list of 100 keywords that reflected those answers, pairing each word with another that developed it, and doing a progressive trim—100 → 75 → 15 → 6 → 4 words—which ended up defining RAGA’s essence.
FROM IDEA TO FORM
These 4 words guided the search for symbols. I played with the letter “R,” starting prototypes that represented each concept, letting them rest, and then cleaning and sculpting. No sketch was definitive, but all were decisive in reaching a much freer, more fluid proposal.
IDENTITY
The logo had to work visually and reflect a graffiti style that’s very much mine. This led me to an unexpected but natural element: my teeth. Since adulthood, I’ve always felt my dentition has its own character. And what better symbol than that to explore in the logo?
From there came a banner-style illustration proposal, but that story is better saved for another day—it’s got plenty of punch too!
A strong reference at this stage was the almost tribal circular logo of the metal band Bloodywood, which inspired me to experiment with circular forms associated with graffiti until I found a more refined and solid prototype.
FINAL RESULT
With all that, I digitized the design, tested variations, and finally gave it a tangible touch with textures and backgrounds to wrap up the process satisfactorily.
Do you have a comment, critique, or just a feeling about this process? All feedback is welcome! I know there’s still a lot to polish in my design, but for now, I’m happy with what I’ve achieved.
THANKS FOR THE SPACE, and see you there.
VERSION EN ESPAÑOL
¡Hola, comunidad Sketchbook!
A FUEGO LENTO
