I couldn't hold my joy when I heard Sajid Khandaker and Sourodip Paul (the famous OG team) finally make history by clinching the title of World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC). Can you imagine defeating students from universities like Harvard, Oxford, Sydney, and Princeton being non-native speakers? Man, it "is" a big deal for us! Because this is the first time a Bangladeshi team has reached this top and become the global champion in debating. And not only that, none of any Asian teams have made it this far!

WUDC is like a world cup in debate. Shourodip and Sajid were nurturing themselves for a long time to win this competition, and at last, their hard work paid off! Though they represent BRAC A team, both of them were students from IBA, University of Dhaka. After that, Shourodip went for his post-graduation at Australia National University. I got to know about him from a podcast and was amazed by his personality, thinking style, and philosophy. His debating journey started at Notordem college where he groomed people like Enayet Chowdhury. Later on, he upgraded his skills from IBA by attending the national and international debates.

This duo named their team OG and was attending debating competitions for the last 5 years. They have a great combination and understanding among themselves and this reliance helped them to come to this stage. From 2017, they were participating in this WUDC and at last, they're riding high!
Now the thing which disappointed me is, that only some of us came to know about this news where it should be in the limelight through our whole news industry. It made me shocked when I couldn't find the news scrutinizing all the pages of one of our best newspapers. People are more engaged mocking Ananta Jalil's English pronunciation where these two kids are crushing the most living talented students with their potentiality and oratory skills. As they're bringing honor to us, it's our obligatory to overspread their news through social media. From our capacity, at least this is what we can do!
