Few days ago I saw a little snail while going through the internet. An amigurumi snail. When I see a new amigurumi, I like to keep it saved for me to look at it later and make my own pattern.
Yeah… I like to try creating my own patterns instead of finding patterns from elsewhere. Sometimes I get the guides from others work. I am thankful for people who are sharing their knowledge with everyone around the world.
When crocheting, what makes my work interesting is uncertainty. If I have to focus on crocheting, loosen the stitches and crochet them again…. I have to find the perfect pattern. If I am using a already known pattern, there is nothing to be curious about.
Let me tell you few tips I have learnt about crochet.
Never be too lazy to loosen a mistaken stitch. Unless it will turn your work into something else.
Before assembling, pin them and check the positions. Otherwise, toy will look odd.
Be careful where you place the eyes. If it has.
If you are creating your own patters, start with the body, not the head. If the head and the body are not separated, start from the head.
In my very first time, I have started from the head. But I have learnt lately, we should start from the body. So we will have to adjust only the head we something goes wrong.
- Do not use plastic eyes for the toys that babies/kids will use. Use safety eye or sew them.
Normally I like to sew the eyes in toys more than using safety eyes. I only use plastic eyes or half beads when I gift it to someone above 12/15 ages.

Since the snail’s body and head are crocheted together, which means they are not crocheted separately and assembled. I have started from the head. When it comes to this kind of situation, we start it from the head.
I have crochet the body using 5 different colors. At the end, this snail reminded me of Turbo. I was in a big trouble, when I was designing the antennas of the snail. It should not be to large or small. And should have the shape. I have tried three different patterns and decided this to be the good one.
He came out to be cute than I have expected. And I good very good feedback from my friends for it.
