It's been over three weeks since my last post. I was really overwhelmed by the show, by Mikey's show, and by the oppressive summer heat in general. In that time, I didn't really manage to paint much either, but I do have a couple art updates while I try to swing back into my regular schedule.
I hadn't shared this yet. This is Bobbin. I never got to know him personally, but I feel like I know him through my buddy and fellow Swallowed Whole many-hats-wearing co-ordinator, who bird-sat for this fine fellow on a number of occasions. Bobbin escaped this past spring, and in spite of many determined search parties, notices, and watchers, never found his way back home. He may still be out there somewhere, but even if he is, it's taken up so much search energy to try to track him, his person's life has suffered more than just her loss of him. Some birds just can't be caged.
So my buddy commissioned this, before we started the show in earnest. It took a very long time for something so small to be finished, given my dedication to the Fringe.
As to that, we did alright! I'm still waiting to be paid out my share, which, for all the work it was, is pennies, but I'm glad of it anyway. We got a great buzz, we made over 250 people laugh. It's not a huge number, but I'm really proud. It's all the incentive I needed to do it again. I guess we'll have to wait and see how the future unfolds. I already have the next one vaguely planned out. I just need to create dialogue for the characters in my head.
It's still hot as balls here. A real struggle to get things done. I also sold a small piece during the run of the show, but that's for tomorrow's post.
