This blog of mine is quite especial as I draw the person behind Philippines first ever gold medal in an Olympic.

Tears flows down as Hidilyn Diaz a female weighlifter finally won the gold medal. The whole nation celebrates and cheers for the victory of Hidilyn Diaz alongside with her coaches. Just a quick story, she shares her experiences during her training in Malaysia which she was stranded because of the pandemic. She misses her families, the pressure from political red tagging her and the fact the hardship of lifting heavy weights was not a joke.

2 days ago I found her photo and decided to draw her. It was already past 6 in the evening when I start to draw her. Today let me share how draw her in my own little way.

Materials Used:

Graphite Pencil
Graphite Powder
Mongol Pencil
Blending Stump
Eraser
Brush
A4 size Vellum Board

First thing I did I prepare my drawing materials and start to sketch it using mongol pencil. I prefer to use mongol pencil cause it's a bit lighter to use conpare to my 2H graphite pencil. So then I finished it and now proceed to the next step.

What I usually did was to do the left eye first. It is my simple way to avoid smudging the paper if I chose to draw the right side first. Then using paper blending stump, I smudge and blend it carefully. In that way I can avoid some hard lines together with brush.

Then going down to the nose and contouring it, putting shadows towards the mouth are fun to do. Then on her hair I used HB pencil for hair strand. I shave soft graphite pencil and brush onto her hair. Then I continue to draw hair line again and blend it.

Lastly, the clothes are quite challenging to do cause I don't usually practice and draw reference with clothes so I guess this one will be my most decent drawing of clothes for the mean time. And here it is my drawing of an Olympic gold medalist Ms. Hidilyn Diaz.
