Hello hiver!

Today, I chose a group of photos taken in different spots within Leipzig with the intention of showcasing some architectural details, some iconic sight, or just scenes of people being with their environments. I included some color photos with some black and white photos to accommodate everyone.

Hola Hiver!

I hardly had the chance to step off the train before I was already wide-eyed in amazement! Leipzig Central Station was such a cool place. From the architecture to its size to how clean it was to its overall uniqueness. It is a very busy place and a perfect location for street photography.

The streets were full of surprises, with buildings from various time periods and architecture style almost right next to each other. For example, one picture has a modern metal and glass building next to a centuries-year old church building!

You will find various distinctive buildings throughout the city, including this one, which has a tall tower and pointed spire, featuring architecture similar to that of a Renaissance castle. This is the New City Hall; it is currently the headquarters of the municipal administration.

St. Thomas Church was one of the locations in the city that struck me not just for its superb architecture, but also for its history. The church is a world-renowned site, particularly for being where Johann Sebastian Bach, who is one of the greatest composers ever, worked and was also buried - his remains are entombed there beside the primary altar.

Not far from the market I discovered St. Nicholas Church, famous for both its Gothic architecture and artwork and its place in the modern history of Germany. I did not know before that this was one of the places where peaceful demonstrations were organized that eventually led to the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.

05- Church of Saint Nichols / Iglesia de San Nicol谩s

I close this post with an image of a scene we can commonly find in Richard Wagner Square: People walking with their pets and taking advantage of the opportunity to take a dip to cool off from the intense summer heat.

06- Richard-Wagner-Platz / Plaza Richard Wagner
