Blockchain technology is not for everyone, at least not the technical terms and mechanisms it is associated with. But, one thing for certain applies to mass people— how it changes their financial perspective and offers opportunities for positive social changes. It’s almost 4 years since Hive forked from Steemit. Comparatively new in the block, yet, it has a profound impact on those who are connected with it. Not to mention users getting financial benefits while empowering others in various ways.
Yes, we have many aspects to consider when talking about Hive’s contribution to society. Fortunately, I have witnessed a few initiatives that really impacted lives positively. And they are continuing to do so even to this date.
A few days back I was randomly browsing through communities created here. Some are strong while others are still struggling to get a grip. Nevertheless, every community is unique in its own way— either spreading financial insights, making people technologically aware, encouraging people to talk about hobbies, and so on. Really appreciative. Kudos to the contributors and organisers. But out of many, I have noticed a few activities that surpass others— charitable initiatives and environmental awareness.
And we have already seen them in action during the Ukraine war, or say, initiatives to provide food and warm clothes in some countries in needy seasons.
To me, this is the most rewarding thing to do as a community. By rewarding I don’t highlight any financial benefits but the responding to humanitarian needs in general. It’s amazing how people across regions join forces to help those in need. It’s more amazing to see people stretching their arms willingly to take responsibility and accomplish the impossible— distributing survival items amidst war or undergoing extreme hardship to reach out to homeless people who are suffering from cold weather in harsh winter or feeding the poor on occasion.
Apart from that, we have lovely communities encouraging people to get out and enjoy nature’s beauty, reminding us to appreciate our surroundings. By doing so, the communities aren’t only feeding the souls of contributors but everyone interacting virtually. Some even take it to another level by physical challenges; you know, working out and sharing social proof. Or say, taking initiatives to go green and clean our environment— they are impactful, not only at the individual level but think about the greater benefits in general.
Communities impacting our personal growth require no explanation I guess. We get to learn personal thoughts, approaches to critical moments and all that. While this is broadening our view towards social and personal lives, we are adopting diverse attitudes towards our careers. Sometimes we are motivated enough to redefine our goals, sometimes we are discovering more reasons to follow our heart. Who knew beyond the financial appeal of crypto, blogging on Hive would bring so many options to contribute to society, to the world— an ecosystem that thrives on sharing and caring?
