Our business with waste does not stop when we throw garbage away. Throwing trash in its place is good, but there are still things that we need to pay attention to after taking out the garbage.
Some of us choose to burn garbage that has accumulated. Is the option to burn garbage a good option? Apparently burning garbage even cause new problems again, especially for our health.
When burning garbage in the pile, there is no good burning process. Good combustion is to require adequate Oxygen (O2). Different when burning a pile of garbage, maybe the outside of the stack enough to get Oxygen to produce CO2, but in the pile of waste will be shortage of O2 so that produced is Carbon Monoxide gas (CO).
Then why with Carbon Monoxide gas?
Carbon Monoxide (CO) gas is a dangerous gas, because it can kill us en masse. When we breathe CO gas, the blood hemoglobin that should lift and circulate oxygen throughout the body will be disrupted. That way, the body will experience lack of Oxygen, which can lead to death.
Smoke generated from burning waste is also dangerous, you know. Problems also arise from organic waste, which can cause unburned particles to fly, or produce reactions that produce harmful hydrocarbons. The harmful hydrocarbons generated by burning garbage incloses, including the cancer-causing compound benzopirena, are 350 times larger than cigarette smoke. The farther, we can contract lung cancer, lung infections, asthma, or bronchitis.
Not to mention the gas generated from burning garbage, which can also damage the earth's atmosphere. The gas is a chlorine compound, which is produced from a plastic combustion. The burning of nitrogen-containing synthetic materials, such as nylon, polyurethane foams on sofas or foam carpets, is also dangerous because it can produce harmful HCN gas.
Throwing garbage in its place is not enough. The process of destroying the actual garbage is still much more complicated. So basically, we also need to reduce the waste, especially the garbage that is difficult to parse. Reduce consumption, maximize products that can be used many times than disposable ones.
Be smart, be green.
