to me, this looks like 'Chicken of the woods' - a great edible mushroom! and the 1st pic, looks like an older mushroom of that specie (that became pale and not edible). maybe @sketch.and.jam will correct me if i am wrong or confirm (I hope so), he is np doubts more experienced with this one. you should harvest it before it grew too old. google about its taste -- a really nice find!

uh. well. one one hand I agree with you. some shrooms (especially fieldcaps) do like the same, all of the time, unless you go into weirdo macro scale... on another hand, it depends a lot on the setting, background, again, on magnification, i.e. you may create a stunning portrait (dozen stunning ones!) even having only these few species... but that will take an art of photography to apply, if there is nothing to apply, the photos will look boring and the same: a wilted grass with soil (80% of the photo) and same little to medium brown circles (10% of the photo surface). which is definitely boring 8)
