This is my entry in the ugliest animal contest. I decided to enter the animal ugliness contest because, besides being an interesting activity, here we’re testing the idea that ugliness depends on each person’s eye—just like beauty—and we’ll also judge those characteristics and measure the animal’s level of ugliness, but we’re going to make it interesting by comparing physical appearance with inner beauty.

Esta es mi participación en el concurso del animal más feo. Decidí participar en el concurso de fealdad en los animales porque, además de ser una interesante actividad, aquí ponemos a prueba que la fealdad depende del OJO de cada persona, igualmente con la belleza, y también juzgaremos esas características y mediremos el nivel de fealdad del animal, pero vamos a hacer la cosa interesante porque vamos a comparar el fisico con la belleza interior.

In the natural setting where we find ourselves—a beautiful, colorful landscape filled with flowers, bathed in bright sunshine and filled with pleasant scents—we can see beautiful birds singing, reptiles, and other wildlife that are generally a joy to watch. But in that very same environment, we also find arachnids... The nightmare of many people—there’s even a phobia dedicated to this very species due to the terror caused by their appearance: arachnophobia. Because of the widespread fear these little creatures inspire, horror movies and video games have been created where they take center stage...
But WAIT, these species also evoke tenderness in others—some have even domesticated them. But now I ask you: would you want the mangora acalypha as a pet in your home? That arachnid species you see in the photo—this tiny monster that instills fear and disgust in many due to its yellowish-green colors with black lines, and its abdomen, which dominates that color scheme—has a terrifying appearance, especially its opisthosoma, which looks like a dinosaur egg with that mix of colors and its white, distinctly oval base that truly gives it the appearance of an egg.

En el medio de la naturaleza donde nos encontramos, un paisaje hermoso, colorido con flores, acompañado con un sol reluciente y olores agradables, podemos observar hermosos pájaros cantando, reptiles y otras especies silvestres que visualmente suelen ser agradables de observar, pero en ese mismo entorno se encuentran los arácnidos... La pesadilla de muchas personas, que hasta existe una fobia creada a esa misma especie debido al terror que causa su aspecto: la aracnofobia. Debido al terror popular que causan estos pequeños, se han creado películas de terror y videojuegos donde esta especie son protagonistas...
Pero ALTO, también estas especies causan la ternura de otras personas que hasta hay personas que domesticaron algunas, pero ahora te pregunto, ¿tú quieres de compañía en tu hogar la mangora acalypha? Esa especie de arácnido que observas en la foto, este diminuto monstruo que produce miedo y asco a muchos debido a sus colores amarillento verdoso con líneas negras y parte abdominal, domina ese color; solo su opistosoma tiene un aspecto de terror que parece un huevo de dinosaurio con esa mezcla de colores y su base blanca con una forma bien ovalada que realmente crea un aspecto de un huevo.
But the other things that, in my opinion, are absolutely horrifying are HER LEGS! Seriously, even though I have a passion for large animals, something inside me cringes when I look at them; they look like hairy pincers the color of snot, and just imagining them crawling all over your body will give you goosebumps...
If you thought the legs were disgusting, let me tell you how our friend produces her spiderweb, because she’s a magnificent weaver in vegetated areas. If you thought those threads came directly from her abdomen, the answer is NO; the silk is created from a protein-based liquid secreted by her glands, and when it comes into contact with the air, it hardens, and here’s a great photo of her weaving with her legs.

Pero los otros aspectos que, en mi opinión, son horribles son ¡SUS PATAS! Realmente, hasta para que tenga una pasión por los animales muy grande, me produce algo en mi interior cuando las observo; es que parecen unas pinzas peludas con un color de moco y que solamente imaginar que te caminen en el cuerpo te pondrá la piel de gallina...
Si pensabas que las patas son asquerosas, déjame informarte cómo nuestra amiga produce su tela de araña, porque es una magnífica tejedora en las zonas de vegetación. Si pensabas que esos hilos saldrían directamente de su abdomen, la respuesta es NO; la seda se crea a base de un líquido proteico que secretan sus glándulas, y al entrar en contacto con el aire, se endurece, y aquí tenemos una muy buena foto de ella tejiendo con sus patas.
