Crypt, I learn more about the "nitty gritty realities" of NFT investing reading your posts then a thousand other ones combined. Great post.
A philosophical aside: A great deal of the drama you describe is the result of participants' underlying motivations. Chest-thumping and swinging from the chandeliers is a mentality reflective of "The Greater Fool Theory" ... people getting in because they think their investment will double overnight as the result of hype. This, of course, REQUIRES that the hype be sustained ... and generally at ever-increasing levels so as to continue drawing in new people willing to buy at ever-increasing prices. Such a system is not "robust" ... that is, it can't take a punch, go down, then get back up and continue fighting. It is rumored that it would take seven torpedoes to sink a modern American aircraft carrier. Carriers are specifically designed to be able to take damage and continue operating at high levels of performance. As systems, many of these NFT projects have the robustness of a canoe built of paper ... they're just begging to be sunk.
What everyone in the CryptoSphere seems to forget is that cryptos aren't worth squat unless the masses show up. Current prices are based upon the ASSUMPTION that they will. The same goes for NFTs. Scroll through NFTs with a half dozen people who have never heard of Github and observe their howls of derision. It is their taste in art that will determine the eventual winners and losers ... and given what's currently out there, I predict 1,000 of the latter for every one of the former. A LOT of people are going to be left holding the bag.
Focus on extraordinariness. Human beings are wired to ADMIRE acts of human excellence (singing, writing, painting, athletics, intelligence, insight, innovation, etc.) and ELEVATE moral exemplars. These are two of only three positive Other-Judging Emotions (the third is Gratitude). Stray away from these fundamental human drives and you're walking on thin ice.
Curation matters. I re-iterate what I said in earlier comments: seperate NFTs into two groups:
1.) The Extraordinary
2.) The Shit
And, if it's not the former, it's automatically the latter.
