HF21/22 is an important first step (respecting curation) ... but it is a step contingent upon "enforcement" ... and hence, my proposal for a Jury Adjudication System respecting "Offensive Behaviors" (including retaliatory downvoting).

Pretty soon I'm going to start losing my hair ... just like Block. Why can't people understand that STEEM/Steemit is a "multi-component system" and must be viewed as such in order to make it function properly? It doesn't matter if the air conditioner works if the engine won't start.

Arrgh.

We have, at the moment, a brief reprieve. A number of Orcas and Whales have found religion and are actively downvoting "bidbot and self-upvoting abuse." This has already resulted in a number of Whale Wars. The enforcers will quickly tire, as they always have, and the offending Whales will resume their shenanigans.

For HF21/22 to have any lasting positive effect, it MUST be combined with an enforcement system that is immune to retaliatory downvoting. Absent such coordination, all will be for naught.

Indeed, one could easily argue that HF21/22, absent a pragmatic enforcement mechanism, will actually increase abuse. As you've undoubtedly read, posts under 16 STEEM (I've also read 20) will be less valuable due to the modified curve calculations. So ... why not use bidbots to get you over the magic 16 STEEM threshold? Could the Good Whales realistically enforce against tens of thousands of Minnows employing such a strategy while, at the same time, engaging in Whale Wars to stop abusive self-upvoting? Get real.

The problem, as always, is the Anarchistic ideology that underlies the creation of cryptocurrencies. Name a single law enforcement system in existence that does not combine carrots with sticks ... encourage law-abiding behaviors (Heaven) while punishing those which are law-breaking (Hell).

My neverending frustration with cryptoworld is the Anarchistic fantasy of being able to do away with Laws. I live in the real world with real people. I am highly suspicious of people arrogant or naive enough to believe they can create their own "Truths." The thin veneer of civilization is just that, thin. And, as we've all witnessed, it doesn't take much for some to revert back to their most primal instincts. The Laws of Man are the ONLY things standing between us and the Law of the Jungle.

EOS 1.8 is scheduled to launch on September 23. Presumably, Voice will launch shortly thereafter (I'd be scared to launch both at the same time and presume @dan will be similarly reluctant).

Technically, I still think Steemit possesses the better model. If I understand it correctly, the "value created" by EOS/Voice is bifurcated ... Voice tokens will only be worth the auction price paid by current advertisers. The speculative "capitalization of future income" will reside in EOS.

This is roughly analogous (very roughly) to the difference between a stock (largely speculative value based upon the anticipation of future earnings, including a growth compenent) and a bond (largely a fixed value based upon contractual obligation and a company's observable ability to pay).

STEEM/Steemit combines both these functions into one, meaning that those creating the current value (akin to Voice content creators) also share in the capital gains associated with the anticipation of future growth, a consequence largely the result of their present activities (akin to EOS holders).

But that's in theory.

In reality, the neverending corruption of STEEM/Steemit negates the theoretical advantages it has over competing blockchains. Bifurcation, as with EOS/Voice may be the necessary price to be paid to stop the cheating ... the toxic chemotherapy required to kill the even more toxic cancer.

Ironically, @dan's design of Voice incorporates EVERY ONE of the operational objectives and constraints that my Reform Proposals for STEEM/Steemit articulated a year and a half ago ... albeit by slightly different means.

Just to be pissy, maybe I'll publish a post entitled, "I Told You So ... You MOFO's."
