I agree that retaining new players is essential for Splinterlands to survive over time. Right now, splinterlands is a dying game.
The absence of a true community, beyond all those publications that only seek to milk the reward pool, is one of the aspects that very clearly shows the decline of the game. Even worse, most of the discussions apparently tend to take place in Discord channels, where manipulation strategies arise on how to artificially alter the game's economy, driven by users whose ultimate goal is scamming.
Very few like you make constructive criticism of weaknesses and problems in the game. The vast majority is dedicated to congratulating the developers every time they fart, which gives an aura of scam to the entire ecosystem. After what appears to have been very poor bankroll management during the boom years, the developers appear to be focused now on keeping former players happy while better times come. But absolutely nothing is done to attract new players and above all make their experience in the game at least decent.
The vast majority of your proposals seem reasonable, but I don't think those are the problems new players face.
I invite you to do a simple analysis of the leagues and their permanence, and you will realize how new players face an ordeal in their first steps playing splinterlands.
I challenge you to start playing with a completely new account, and you will experience firsthand the odyssey of finding a novice-level fight.
The irony is that Splinterlands is a game where most of the players are bots, but at the novice level the developers have not bothered to have bots so that new players have someone to battle with and, above all, learn the most basic tactics of the game.
But Hey! Let's not worry, Rebellion is here, land will arrive, and after the hype, everything will remain the same, in continuous decline because nothing has been done, and from what can be deduced from the developers' roadmap, we can be sure that everything will remain the same .
At least Splinterlands is a great game, and maybe it will outlive its creators and become a classic dissociated from the stupid greed of pseudo P2E.
