Not many movies are worth the 3 hour mark. The days, I find myself trying to find films that are around 90 minutes in length, which was common in the 80s, but rare nowadays. But of the long ones, I'd say Scarface, Apocalypse Now Redux, Interstellar, The Godfather and Lord of the Rings pick your movie were worth the time. There are quite a few that are great that are 2.5 hours in length.

This was obviously split up into parts for people to watch over the course of a few days. Who in their right mind would sit in a movie theater for 15.5 hours?

As far as I'm concerned, I really can't fathom why any male or anyone over the age of about 21 would be interested in either the Twilight or the Hunger Games movies.

"Seven Samurai" is well over 3 hours long and the film was so expertly made that there is not a single minute of "fluff".

I watched two and a half minutes of Hunger Games before I turned it off. The shaky cam was horrendous. Battle Royale is a much better film and the one that Hunger Games stole their concept from.

Atlanta, GA I think the longest film I've ever watched is "Lawrence of Arabia," but sadly, did not finish because I fell asleep. I don't think it was because I was tired, either, but some day wish to attempt watching again. Well, aside from the Godfather 1+2 edit, which took two nights to complete and was astonishingly good.

French countryside I've seen a lot of movies in theater when I was a teen, so I don't remember them all, but probably the longest are Star Wars Episodes 1, and 2. Then I've started to work, and a theater's ticket wasn't affordable anymore to my conception.

To each their own of course! I've seen a few classic films that did nothing for me. Having said that, I do think the first half of "Lawrence of Arabia" is far superior to the second half.

Oslo, Norway LOTR: ROTK for me. Love the movie and the books, but the endless endings worked better in book form
Other than that, I nearly died of boredom watching King Kong. Far, far too long! Just over three hours, but it felt like six.
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship! #4508416 - Yesterday at 04:38 PM Re: What's the longest movie you've seen in the theater? [ Re: Raw Kryptonite ] Joined: Dec 1999

Yeah I saw a lot of promise in the film and it had a fantastic premise, plus Peter O'Toole was superb. Definitely deserves another attempt.

Indeed he was. He's one of those rare actors who could have just stood there and read from a phone book and I probably would have still been riveted by his performance.

I didn't see it at the theatre, though I note the comment about 3hr+ movies perhaps becoming a thing of the past.
