After 2 weeks, here's a warm welcome back to the untold secrets of a battle mage. I have so far shared my approach to five (5) Rulesets + One (1) Ability-based ruleset and I have come to introduce you to another. Splinterlands seeks to sharpen skills by allowing players explore various strategies via rulesets. I have tried to study a few cards especially with the newly introduced rulesets, giving one more reasons to know what cards strongly suits them.
Before the start of any battle, each player is shown what ruleset is allowed in battle and it is extremely beneficial to read and strategize accordingly. The ruleset secret I will be sharing you to in this post is the BRIAR PATCH
BRAIR PATCH RULESET implies that ALL monsters receive the Thorns ability at the start of the battle. Enemy monsters that use melee attacks receive damage back.
With this in mind players must consider the following;
When hit with a Melee attack, monsters to damage back.^(a)
Damage returned is equal to damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.^(b)
Melee attack monsters with the Reflection Shield ability do not take damage from thorns.^(c)
This ruleset turns all monsters to an Anti-melee weapon, pay attention to your selections, Big HP and Shield is your way out.^(d)
Finally, The Amplify ability increases damage.^(e)
This is a very interesting ruleset because way before the introduction of these rulesets, and of you followed my battles, MYLOR CROWLING was my go to weapon of destruction.
I especially enjoy either the ruleset or the ability and have a battle to demonstrate it's use and a possible lineup that works for mid-high mana battle. Before we charge into the battlefield, I'll introduce you to the monsters and why I picked them.
CHANSEUS THE GREATis a great summoner with supernatural abilities to grant Monsters willing to fight alongside him the Repair ability which restores some armor to the warrior whose armor has taken the most damage in battle. He then grants the Triage ability which heals the backline warrior's health each round and finally the Resurrect ability which will bring back to life one warrior when it dies.
WHY I PICKED CHANSEUS THE GREATSummer CHANSEUS THE GREAT is Repairer and Resurrector, hence, he is particularly effective in enforcing my teams attack while breaking enemies resistance with minimal cost. This summoner is such a very valuable card to have cause of this LEGENDARY fact, implying he will almost always fits 85% rulesets and battle mana cap.
In front line comes LEGIONNAIRE ALVAR because of his high ranking as a formidable abilities. His Void Armor ability Causes magic attacks to hit his armor before his health. He also uses his Giant killer ability to deal double damage to enemies that cost 10 or more mana point.
This cards attack type is Melee, a powerful card and it is part of the Neutral unit. It costs 9-mana to use in battle.
WHY I PICKED LEGIONNAIRE ALVAR This ruleset turns all monsters to an Anti-melee weapon, pay attention to your selections, Big HP and Shield is your way out.^(d)
LEGIONNAIRE ALVAR being a Melee attacker, he can cause great damage even at a lower leagues. Best when paired with summoners like CHANSEUS THE GREAT to make him fully resistant to enemies trying to bridge front line. This front monster has upperhand opportunity to deal with enemies, the enemies will literally have to go through him, thereby securing a win.
TIME MAGE come with the Slow ability which reduces the speed of all enemies, allowing her team to attack fiercely, causing damage before the enemy has the chance to react. She is gentle, strict and an absolutely terror to her enemies.
This cards attack type is Magic, and it is part of the Life unit. It costs 4-mana to use in battle , as a result, it will be an excellent card for both low & mid mana ruleset battles.
WHY I PICKED TIME MAGEI picked TIME MAGE she's a spell caster and this ability will work against the enemies giving room for front line monster to recharge and attack. This time manipulator does great Exploits by turning enemies strategy against them.
The delectable ADELADE BRIGHTWING comes with the supernatural Flying ability to fly over enemies with non-flying ability and fiercely attack them. She also has the Repair ability which restores some armor to the warrior whose armor has taken the most damage in battle and her Resurrect ability will bring back to life one warrior when it dies.
This cards attack type is Magic, a Legendary card and it is part of the Life unit.
WHY I PICKED ADELADE BRIGHTWINGI picked ADELADE BRIGHTWING because I predicted my opponent will come at me with magic-Melee force, and in other to gain advantage, I'd need a repairsmith to help.
Next comes DIVINE HEALER with the Tank heal ability
This cards attack type is Magic, a Common card and it is part of the Life unit.
WHY I PICKED DIVINE HEALERI picked DIVINE HEALER to help heal the health of the front line monster, she is also a spell caster. This healing will come in very handy.
PELACOR ARBALEST has the Double strike ability which allows him attack twice each time he strikes.
This cards attack type is Range, and it is part of the Life unit. It costs 6-mana to use in battle , as a result, it will be an excellent card for both mid & high mana ruleset battles.
WHY I PICKED PELACOR ARBALESTI picked PELACOR ARBALEST because of it's double Strike ability which targets ranged, magic or no attack types. Decimating the enemies back row and dealing double the damage is key to my teams victory.

This was a Mid-mana cap battle with the BRAIR PATCH rule set. Sometimes you get a triple, double or a single ruleset like this. The less number of ruleset, the better for me😄
My Summoner CHANSEUS THE GREAT grants team monsters the Repair ability , Triage ability and Resurrect ability.
TIME MAGE then Slowed all enemy monsters affecting their speed point.
TIME MAGE launches first attack at ENEMY-SHIELDBEARER, damaging enemy's health. She doesn't back down, but goes on to kill enemy front-line and ENEMY-CHAOS KNIGHT after health got weakened by LEGIONNAIRE ALVAR.
ADELADE BRIGHTWING goes on to strike and kill ENEMY-TIME MAGE. This sets them free from the slow spell casted on them by enemy.
ENEMY-PELACOR ARBALEST strikes and kills LEGIONNAIRE ALVAR, but ADELADE BRIGHTWING resurrects him with double armor, while DIVINE HEALER boost his health.
LEGIONNAIRE ALVAR launches a scattershot which hits and kills ENEMY-SCAVO HIRELING.
PELACOR ARBALEST takes an accurate range, double strikes attack on ENEMY-PORTAL SPINNER and kills her instantly.
LEGIONNAIRE ALVAR deals a deadly strike at ENEMY-PELACOR ARBALEST and kills him instantly. While ADELADE BRIGHTWING waste no time to target and instantly kill ENEMY-TRUTHSPEAKER

In battles that use the Briar Patch
To succeed in Briar Patch, players should focus on using the Amplify ability which increases damage. However, they should also be aware that their opponents may be doing the same, so it is important to focus on monsters' health points and use abilities that can bypass defenses and repair damaged health and shields as seen in this battle.
Additionally, players should be aware that the Briar Patch ruleset can be countered by abilities such as weaken, Rust or the Wizard of Eastwood's summoner ability, which can reduce max health and remove armor. So, players should also consider including monsters with these abilities in their lineup to gain an advantage.
Overall, Briar Patch can be a challenging, it requires careful strategy to succeed. By focusing on monsters' health points and using abilities such as shown in this battle that bypass armor, you can gain an advantage and emerge victorious in even the toughest battles.
