Fun Fact: Did you know that Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings? source
😊Hey There!
The topic of angels is indeed a controversial one, as some believe they exist and others feel they're a figment of one's imagination, like something made up to provide comfort. Dictionary.com defines a guardian angel as a spirit or person who looks after or is concerned with the welfare of another.
I come carrying two occurrences that I personally witnessed with the hope that they may inspire faith or optimism in mankind, and I'm open to your excellent thinking.
This happened in 2008, my first year at university. First years are typically difficult since you are attempting to comprehend the system while also ensuring that you do not fail any classes, thus the pressure. It was an afternoon graphic design class, and we were instructed to draw straight vertical, diagonal, and horizontal lines on a cardboard sheet using freehand, to be presented at 8 a.m. the next day. We got working and didn't know how late it had become, and just on my final carboard sheet, I made a mistake, attempted erasing but made my sheet dirty, and there was nothing I could do at that late hour, I believe 11pmish. I had no alternative but to stop working, pack my work tools, and go to the hostel to sleep, hoping that as early as 6 a.m. I could go to the bookshop, purchase a clean sheet, finish up, and meet the deadline, I had it all perfectly planned out.
The morning dawned, and I was the first one to arrive at the first store. In fact, I ran into the shopkeeper as he was opening the padlock.
"Wonderful,"
I thought. I then stood by the side of the counter and placed my order. I reached for my handbag since the cardboard sheet was roughly 150 naira. I was still looking for it when the shopkeeper informed me that someone had previously paid for my cardboard and that I should be given the change, the difference was 850 naira. I gave a hysterical expression and inquired as to who it was because we were the only two individuals present. The shopkeeper claimed he didn't know either, and I gathered my thoughts, thinking,
"The individual shouldn't have gone too far for me to say thank you."
I ran, but I didn't see anyone approaching or heading in my direction, on both sides. It was really early in the morning, and most students were still asleep.
Given that I didn't have much time to pursue the mystery man, I went to the studio, completed my sheet, and submitted it. It had been a long day, from one lecture to the next, and I was exhausted. I recalled my purse and why I couldn't locate it, so before leaving the department I unpacked my bag and looked. I began to fear since it included my most recent withdrawal about 4,500 naira, 2 ATM cards, and student ID. I didn't even realize I was crying. Gloria, my best friend, calmed me down and suggested we go to the hostel to check. I'm quite sure I left it in the hostel.
To shorten the story, my purse had gone missing, and it was that 850 naira that carried me through the next two days till I received money from home via my best friend. I fortunately found the purse two weeks later when I noticed an advertisement for missing things with my name and student ID number published. I walked over to verify and lo and behold, my purse was there with everything in it.
But what make me wonder till date is, who was that mystery man? was it my guardian angel? was it a good Samaritan who thought to help? was it all a coincidence or was it divine?
The second event occurred in 2011, during my final year. We were without power for two days because of a power outage at the University. My phone battery was going to die (only 30%, if I recall correctly), and I wanted to attend a student fellowship, so I borrowed my roommate's battery that if mine died, I'd have a spare to use. We set off, and the program ended at approximately midnight, still without power and with heavy rain falling. I strolled back to the hostels with a bunch of other students. When I got to my room, I remembered to give my roommate her batteries, but when I checked, I couldn't locate it.
I unpacked and panicked since it was her only extra battery, which she had generously given to me.
"What if it dropped off my purse?"
I wondered. So I went out at that hour of the night to retrace my steps. It was still pouring outside, and I couldn't see anything. I was in tears. I then ran into a friend who inquired what I was doing out late by myself. We were the only two people outside in the rain at that time. I told him about it, and he suggested that he assist me in looking for it. As we were about to start, a young man with a black hood (I'm not lying), we couldn't see the face clearly since it was so dark, approached me and said,
"Here is your battery."
I didn't understand what was going on at that time cause we were overjoyed and then it dawned on us, like what just happened? My friend and I chorused same time,
"who was that?"
I then added
"and how did he know we were looking for a battery?"
Goosebumps! My friend left me and ran after trying to catch up with this mystery man. I quickly raced inside the hostel to my room, handed my roommate her battery, and went to sleep, but I couldn't stop wondering who that mysterious man was. Was it really my guardian angel? Was it a good Samaritan who offered assistance? Was it merely a coincidence, or was it divine?
I feel strongly the message here is for now, to let someone know HELP isn't too far away if you can just Believe. We should never lose Hope!
❓I'm curious, What do you think about this events, does it prove that guardian angels exist, pure luck or is it just coincidences with good Samaritans? I would love to read your though in the comment section😊
