A quick getaway road trip. . .
Who else here misses travel? Before the pandemic, no one could have thought we would be restricted to even going to the nearest border. It's almost two years after it was announced that we are going to be in lockdown and even a simple boat trip to a province for a quick vacation is impossible.
With the restrictions loosening up a little now, I want to share a quick trip that I and my fiancee had three years ago. We went to the “City of Smiles” in the Philippines, which is Bacolod City.
It was a last-minute decision weekend trip. We left the city around 8 in the evening to catch the 12midnight ferry ride to Escalante Negros. On a windy dark road in the mountains of the north side, the ride took almost 3 hours to reach the port. Then the ferry trip to the tip of Negros island.
I remember the excitement when we got off the boat and saw how the roads were wide and empty. For the first time, my fiancee let me drive the car good for 45 mins. It was so much fun. 🙂
Around 6 am the sunrise welcomed us to Bacolod City. With the windows down hands feel the wind and breathe the fresh morning air. It was so nostalgic! We grab breakfast at “Mickey d's” (McDonald’s) that’s our term for it, lol. Then, we went to our first stop.

Grab our dinner and head back to Cebu. We only slept during our ferry ride. It was indeed a long day, but we had the best of times spending a day in the City of Smiles. No plans ahead just went wherever our feet brought us.
Going back with the photos we had during this trip is making me miss the time we had together with these wonderful places. I can't wait to see him again and have a quick getaway to add happy memories together.
If given a chance to travel again, I would still go back to this place and spend more time and treasure its beauty.
I hope I give you the glimpse of Bacolod City that you would consider visiting the place.
Until my next blog and journey hivers. 🤗
