We all are gifted with certain qualities that comes into picture when the situation arises. Only thing is that we are not aware of such special talent. But it is only matter of time that we need to take a notice of that.
Talking about these qualities, the scholar this time, put up a question in a way to make us realize the true identity or character that differrnt species posses.
कवयः किं न पश्यन्ति किं न भक्षन्ति वायसाः |
मद्यपाः किं न जल्पन्ति किं न कुर्वन्ति योषितः||
Kavayah kim na pashyanti kim na bhakshanti vaayasaah.
Madyapaah kim na jalpanti kim na kurvanti yoshitah.
Kavayah = poets.
Kim = what.
Na = not.
Pashyanti = foresee, notice.
Bhakshanti = devour, eat.
Vaayasaah = crows.
Madyapaah = drunkards, alcoholics.
Jalpanti = prattle, loose talks.
Kurvanti = do.
Yoshitah = a woman.
The lines states that Is there any thing that poets can not notice or foresee, any thing that the crows can not devour, any loose talk that drunkards can not say, and what a woman can not do in an emergency?
In a figurative way the author wants to emphasize the special talents that a poets possess of foreseeing the future, a crows are omnivorous birds, a drunkard has no control over his speech when he is in an inebriated state, and a woman can go to any extent to protect her children and family. All these have some internal qualities that we all posses.
