1....The Vests actually represent how much true ownership and influence which a user have on the steem platform. It is just like actually buying a stock, you do claim an actual small piece of an ownership. If you do have enough ownership then you would gain influence... In the stock world, this influence is commonly called shareholder meetings and also would make the person to even have the ability to influence the actual direction of a company if your stake is actually large enough... On STEEM platform this influence is actually called voting power....
So The more ownership (Vests) which you own, then the larger you can actually influence (Vote) on the platform....
2......STEEM power is just simply the human readable metric which can be used to actually understand how much ownership you really have on the STEEM platform....the STEEM power actually tells you about how much STEEM that your vests are actually worth if you really took them all out at that point.....When a user powers up you actually buy the vests at the current rate which is actually based on the blockchain attrbute which is "steem_per_mvests."...
As time really goes on, the major amount of the vests which you actually gain per STEEM when you are actually powering up often goes down. so it means that it is more expensive to actually buy vests as they inflate in price......
