Podcasting is definitely a good way to so something more than just listening, when loving music so much as you apparently do. At first I though, I don't recognise any name on the list, what kinda of music he plays? And then when looked again, I felt stupid :) Some damn cool names you have there!
Love it when you say: My favorite present, whatever the holiday, is a gift card for buying more music.
Though I like music a lot as well, my collection of records/CDs is much, much smaller than yours. I do use services like Spotify, but actually listen a lot to MixCloud and SoundCloud, either mixes by my favourite or unknown artists, or their work at their own pages. Spotify I have to be able to listen to music everywhere I go. And yes, its a temp service, ie when not paying anymore, no media that I can touch. Not sure what is better for the artists these days, their earning from streaming services, digital selling, or through CDs, Vinyls (niche). I think only the big names earn very good. The small names, releases music for marketing mainly. Some of my friends (producers and DJs), get a lot of the music from services like Beatport and sell their stuff over there as well. They give a larger percentage of the sell to the artists. Also Bandcamp is increasing in popularity as far as I understand.
Success with you next one.
