This guy in the video got it right imho. Any artists need to be on top of it, create create create. I would suggest not to put something out there which is not satisfactory when one wants to become professional artists and be able to live from music. That said, the more productions the better. In parallel work on getting connected with eg the promoters. Music industry is a 'friends' world, at least that is what I know from the electronic music segment. Guess its similar in the bands world. A challenge in the music industry is that its so much distributed; But that in itself gives opportunities again. One of my friends is a music producer and DJ already for more than 30 years. When he was in his teens, he started producing music. At one stage one of the founding fathers of Techno moved into his neighbourhood and my friend took the opportunity to try and get his attention by nocking on his door bringing his productions and didn't let go until he got a positive response: "This I really like and will release on my label". Persistence is key and my friend showed in reality it works; At least it worked for him. Now more than 30 years later, he is still very relevant, known and respected in the industry for all what he did and still does. That said, I've seen many more examples of artists who tried, but never pulled through. Even artists that where picked up for a season, got bookings a whole year as a newbee/new talent, and then dropped out of sight and didn't put the energy and focus in to cross the chasm to become a more established artist. I think to be in music, as in all the other art forms, is tough. So many are, and so few will make it to the levels one can kinda live from their art.
