So a few days ago I posted about starting my World of Warcraft: Classic Hardcore journey. Little did I know at the time that they were opening new and fresh servers just a few days after I made that character. I decided to drop that human rogue and wait until the new servers were up to continue my journey. They opened this Thursday and I spent a few hours playing this morning.
I decided to go back to my roots this time instead and create that Undead Rogue I mentioned in my first post. Undead Rogue was my first ever character on my own account in World of Warcraft so I wanted to revisit some of that nostalgia. I haven't played horde properly since World of Warcraft was in its vanilla state. I've been a life long Alliance player ever since The Burning Crusade released in 2007.
The Undead starting zone is just as easy as the Human starting zone. There's mostly neutral enemies that don't attack you on sight except for a spider cave where you can end up in a bad situation if you're not careful. There's also a camp of Scarlet Crusaders where enemies are aggressive but the enemies themselves aren't much to talk about. It's funny though... in both the Humand and Undead starting area you fight humans. I guess humans are the bad guys no matter where you go, just like in real life.
There's quite a few people running around contesting all the mobs in this starting zone, due to the servers being fresh. It took me longer than it normally would to get through the starting zone because of this but that's also part of the charm of playing on fresh servers. Seeing all the people running around and having fun like this in a 20 year old game. It's just like back then.
I managed to get to Brill, which is the next quest hub for the Undead, just outside the main city of Undercity. I picked up a few quests, unlocked my professions and went out to do some more quests and level up even further. I as level 6 at this point.
Disaster struck shortly after when I managed to pull two Deathhounds at once. I didn't see it as a big issue since I had easily fought two mobs at once before. That was until I noticed I started losing large chunks of health due to one of the mobs being two levels above me. I died when the last hound had only 6hp left. It was me or him and he got the last hit in before me.
I could definitely have played out the situation better by being more aware of my surroundings and utilizing my toolbelt better. I could have ran away and used my throwing knives which would have saved me from taking damage and I would most likely have killed the last hound.
Oh well. My first Hardcore death in World of Warcraft. Foliel the level 6 Undead Rogue. We go agane.
