Hello everyone in the Ladies of Hive community! What a pleasure it is to join you and take the opportunity to warmly congratulate this wonderful space on its 300th contest, recognizing its admirable consistency week after week, always bringing us these topics that keep us so active and motivated.
This week's questions, written by @nainaztengra, invite us to travel back in time, to rescue those magical worlds we used to believe in, and also to remember those great lessons with which we began to understand life. Here I share my answers:
1. When I was a child, what was my favorite fairy tale and how much did I believe in it?
My favorite story without a doubt was Cinderella, and I believed in it with the absolute and genuine innocence of childhood. For me, it wasn't just a simple story told in a book; it was a real world into which I transported myself religiously every afternoon. My favorite ritual was when my mother took out that acetate record and placed it carefully on the record player, while I lay down on the rug.
There I would settle in with my most precious treasure: a little rag that once upon a time had been a soft little blanket, which I hugged as if it were my passport to fantasy.
When I closed my little eyes, the slightly crackling sound of the vinyl would begin to spin and the voices of the characters would completely wrap around me. In my mind, the rug stopped being the living room floor and turned into the grand ballroom of the palace. I could almost smell the sparkle of magic, imagine the texture of a dress that transitioned from suffering alongside the wicked stepmother and stepsisters to the dazzling transformation of the carriages and glass slippers.
I firmly believed that kindness and hope always found their reward, and that record gave me the certainty that happy endings existed and were waiting for me just around the corner.
However, over the years you realize that those fairytale happy endings, just as they painted them for us, do not exist. Today I understand that fairytale love transformed into something much more real and powerful: a mother's love, being that the true magic wand 💫🌟 that brings light and magic to my days.
2. What is something I believed when I was a child that I later discovered was not true?
When my grandfather passed away, I was barely 3 or 4 years old and I was very attached to him; I loved being with him because he spoiled me immensely. So, one day I didn't see him anymore and mom and my grandmother told me he had to go on a trip.
Every day I would ask about him and they would tell me he had called, but that at that moment I was asleep. So I would do everything possible to fight off sleep at nights and in the mornings I would get up early to be near the phone and not miss his call.
Time passed, I don't know how much time passed; perhaps it was days, but for me it was an eternity. I noticed my mom and grandma sometimes with red, swollen eyes, and they would tell me it was the shampoo or a little speck of dust that got into their eyes.
But one day I arrived in silence at my grandmother's house (she lived next door to ours). She didn't notice my presence, so I heard her crying while she packed my grandfather's clothes into a suitcase.
In that instant, I sensed it. I surprised her by wrapping my little arms around her leg and started crying. She startled, but immediately picked me up in her arms, crying with me and asking for my forgiveness for having lied to me.
Looking back and rediscovering these little pieces of our history reminds us of where we come from and how fantasy, pain, and love mature with us. Thank you for reading this little piece of my heart and for this wonderful space!
I don't want to say goodbye without first inviting @zhanavic69,
@syllem, and
@osismi to join beautiful contest.
