I think that during the minutes that this reading lasts, I'm going to transform myself into good company for you. Then, you will continue with your life and I hope that some of what I say will have a positive effect on you and tha when you remember me, it will be with a smile on your face.

Especially written for divorced women like you, like my Aunt Juanita and me

Remember how much you cried when you were separated from your partner? You thought the world was falling apart? And now, some time later, how do you feel?

In my aunt Juanita's case, she felt terrible at first. She cried her eyes out because that dog (with the dogs' forgiveness), always treated her with indifference, came home late because she was going to have a few drinks with her "friends" and almost always turned off her cell phone or, sometimes, didn't even answer the call.

One day, she discovered him being cheating on her. I think that's what made her take the strength out of where she didn't have it and sent him off to that same place we all know (and sent him off in a turtle).

I know that she was crying a lot, climbing up the walls of sadness and rolling on the mattress of suffering, getting so ugly and haggard, as you can imagine.

At first, perhaps because of the custom of so many years of marriage (as Roc铆o Durcal's song says: "custom is stronger than love") in which the moments of boredom were more than those of happiness, she cried a lot; so much so that she could fill an ocean with her tears. She felt completely devastated, she had lost her way and had no desire to look pretty.

Little by little, she began to change. She began to feel free. No more washing underwear, no more washing "smelly" socks. No more having to pretend to have a headache because she just didn't want to have sex with that human being who almost always came home drunk and wanted to have sex with her, and then tend to snore while he slept off his drunkenness.

She used to feel so bad, she had no desire to get dressed up when it was time to go out; now she feels totally renewed. The heaviness and bad vibes shook her, like dusting.

But as the days went by, now she was more serene and less weepy, she began to realize that she had become very much like a woman who did not like her. The image the mirror gave her was of a scruffy, unattractive woman. He wondered why he hadn't noticed it before. Perhaps she was so immersed in her work as a housewife, "wife of...", that without meaning to, her priority and her world only revolved around dirty interiors, sex for commitment and a host of other things that she definitely no longer wanted to remember.

From those moments on, she began to wake up from her lethargy. She was beginning to love himself, until little by little, she was recovering that confident, neat, perfumed, attractive woman. Already going out with her friends to enjoy, met other men. But she was not and did not want to be prepared to venture into a relationship again. She just wanted to make up for lost time. Anyway, she started living.

The most ironic thing was that her ex-husband started looking for her again, "throwing the dogs at her" when he saw her so beautiful. For a moment, she was doubtful... "will it be worth it...?" But that thought was immediately dismissed.

"Old parrot never learn to talk."
"Cake repeated, is cloying."
"To back off, never even to take to the urge."

She realized she definitely didn't want to try again with her ex, just for fear of being alone.

Today I can tell you, first of all that she and her ex, are excellent friends. There's no point in living angry with someone who's been the center of your life for years. She has always thought that we all have something good to give and that we must rescue the positive things from our experiences and thank God for everything we have lived. And as for the negative experiences, they are there to make us grow as human beings, to allow us to value life.

As for her marital status?
She's divorced and happy!
