The 3rd week was the worst and it becomes more and more difficult to live plastic free. Instead of getting it easier, it is the opposite and I feel disappointed of myself and the world.
My period came when I was downtown working and I HAD to buy sanitary towels... which come in PLASTIC! For years I using MOONCUP and I am so happy with it, but now I absolutely had no choice and had to get some plastic shit. I am gonna make soon a post only about the mooncup because it is one of the best things from my life!
I am playing the clarinet and I had to get a new reed, which came in plastic. What could I possible do? Make my own reed? Stop playing music? Go back to medieval times?
My kid got another straw which came with a lemonade... She just wanted it, and forcing my own opinions on her small pleasure didn't feel right.
I got some pencils, glitter and a pen - in PLASTIC. Yes, there are alternative for writing - like writing with blood or with ash or whatever, but still.. What to do?
All my fruits and veggies and cereals and nuts and so on, I still managed to buy bag free, plastic free in the last 3 weeks, so this is a plus. But there are this small things, which are impossible to go without...
All this experiment makes me feel worst then before. Instead of appreciating every single piece of plastic that I am not using, I just see the impossibility of living trash free. It takes a lot of effort from me and I have to give up so many stuff and I literally feel like going back to the woods, 100 years ago and being able to enjoy the daily pleasures, because I am aware of their impact on the environment.
Living plastic free means:

The food things is a separate issue. Somehow I manage (although I stopped getting milk, yogurt, takini, juice etc), but it is incredible expensive to live trash free and frustrating in the same time. The other things that you have to buy more rarely, but are necessary to a comfy life are the hardest...
I have moments when I feel like this character from the MATRIX that just wanted to get his pill back when he saw the reality. Or like the character from Plato's dialogue from the Cave's myth that was the only one that reached the light and went back to his brothers and just became blind again... Now, since I took this challenge, I only see plastic bag everywhere and how we just take them for granted!
I feel sad. And powerless. And my efforts which are huge and in moments sacrificing the joy of my kid seem meaningless for all this amount of shit we produce in the world. Maybe I should just get involved into some legal actions by changing the european laws if I really want a change to happen.
That's it for now. Week 4 is already here and not so good either.
Lots of love from the frustrated sad free plastic women!
