However, let's not panic because my "21 Camping Chronicles" are still very much on track. In fact, I'm currently on a mission to gather up all the photos that I have been hiding away in the depths of my dusty hard drive, lol!
Today, I want to share my excitement about prepping for Thanksgiving in our new home . As a family from the Philippines. This holiday has not been a part of our tradition. However, since moving to the USA and with my husband being American, I am exhilarated to embrace this special occasion with open arms!
The wonderful aroma of freshly baked rolls. Feeling the air has made our house feel even like a home!
One of the things I have been really looking forward to is trying out new recipes and making delicious food. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, my family and I have been experimenting in the kitchen. In particular, I've taken up the task of perfecting dinner rolls, as my husband, son, and I absolutely adore, soft and butter rolls. Although it will take a long journey to get the perfect consistency that we like, it has been a delightful challenge to recreate the ones we've tried at restaurants and the ones you can buy at the grocery stores.
Since I firmly believe that the kitchen is a place for togetherness, I encouraged my son to get involved in the preparations. A couple of months ago, I bought him a charming apron from the local farmer's market, and now he proudly wears it whenever he helps out in the kitchen. And watching him cut butter for our pie dough using a butter knife has been an adorable sight! It warms my heart to see him taking interest in the culinary arts such as a tender age!
As for the main highlight of our Thanksgiving feast, we already have a turkey patiently waiting in our fridge. I must admit, oven roasted turkey is a whole new territory for us, but my talented husband has taken on the challenge! Armed with his culinary skills, his determined to cook a mouth watering turkey that will make our first Thanksgiving in our new home truly unforgettable!
We decided to keep things simple this year. Aside from Turkey, am going to whip up a creamy mashed potatoes that will melt in our mouths. And also, I'll make use of the ingredients that we have. I rummaged through our freezer and found an assortment of frozen veggies that will make the perfect dish to complement with our turkey. For dessert, we're having two pies, a pumpkin pie and apple pie. Am going to make the pie crust today so I don't have to do all the prepping at once on the day of Thanksgiving. As most of you know that my husband and I have overly sweet teeth, so yes, two pies! And of course, vanilla ice cream!
