I read the Commander's old post, Bonney and Read were tough gals that were often leading the charge when boarding action was ordered by Jack, according to witness accounts of the crew and their victims.
As an enterprising Pirate ship, Jack as a Captain wasn't very successful as his promised big score eluded them.
Jack talked big but at the end it was just that, all talk and not much fight which explains Bonney's parting words to Jack before he was hung on the gallows.
Anyone for more pirate popcorn?
