I think I remember the Nippon Maru coming to Vancouver too. It was impressive and their was doubt if it could fit under the Lion's Gate Bridge. They waited for low tide to get her in and I believe the ship tours were very full with long lines. I didn't get to get on board when she was there but very impressive ship and I have no doubt you would have loved it.
