It would have onlly been a matter of time. If it weren't for Nixon and Kissinger, somebody else would have opened up the market to China later.
US lost 50,000+ lives fighting in Vietnam, now doing business as usual with that country, which is still run by the same Communists we fought against decades ago.
Corporate profit is what drives everything. More globalization may be inevitable. Trump or someone may try to reverse it, but it's unlikely to work.
Easy to say bring manufacturing jobs home, the reality is more harsh. There aren't enough workers at home to make all the stuff sourced to other countries already.
I keep hearing people with small business can't find workers. Restaurant still not back to pre-covid capacity because they can't find workers. Many local groceries stores and big chain store like walmart used to stay open 24/7 pre-covid. they're still not open at night.
Big businesses can pay workers more to fight for a limited work force. However if we suddenly create too many jobs by bring jobs home, it does not do anyone any good if there aren't enough people in the population to fill all those jobs.

$1,000,000 houses didn't reduce poverty or make anyone happy, not even the owners of those houses. To bring jobs back to our countries you need massive deflation, deflation of property, and subsequent deflation of wages. Basic economics will always seek out the country with the lowest cost of production and our insane property values and bloated, overpaid bureaucracy will never, ever, bring jobs back on a massive scale. If houses suddenly cost $10,000, only owners would complain, but the vast remained of the population would probably rejoice, not because they want to buy them, but because the cost of living would plummet and jobs would return by the 10s of millions naturally, without subsidies, tariffs or whatever bs our bloated governments dream up.
