Recently, my country was struck by two earthquakes. I鈥檝e spent the last few days checking on my friends and acquaintances, facing many difficulties due to power grid failures and being completely cut off from communication since there was no signal for anything.
鈥婣fter finally managing to reach my family abroad a day after the disaster, I decided to head out with my friend @nado-sw to see the state of the city following the tremors. I think the most impactful thing about going through the city in situations like these is stopping to talk to everyone you know and hearing their experiences with such a terrible event. We found a man training completely alone in a calisthenics park. On the day of the earthquake, he had to abandon his motorcycle because it wouldn't start鈥攊t seems the shaking itself damaged some internal mechanism. After leaving it behind, he ran to find his mother at her home; she is over 80 years old and suffers from Alzheimer鈥檚 and blood pressure issues. That day was pure madness: ambulances and police vehicles everywhere, people passing out in the streets, and chaos all around.
鈥婤ut today, everything held a very strange sense of peace. There was almost no one on the streets, and I was able to photograph the places that sustained damage from the earthquake. Fortunately, there were no fatalities in my city, but in other parts of the country, everything was devastated, many people lost their lives, and others are still under the rubble waiting to be rescued as I write this.
Personally, I find it very frustrating to only be able to photograph the damage in the city where I live without being able to help those who are fighting to survive in other places.

鈥婬ace poco, mi pa铆s fue azotado por dos terremotos. He pasado todos estos d铆as pendiente de mis amigos y conocidos, enfrentando muchas dificultades por las fallas en el sistema el茅ctrico y estando totalmente incomunicado, ya que no hab铆a se帽al de nada.
鈥婰uego de poder comunicarme con mis familiares en el extranjero, un d铆a despu茅s del desastre, decid铆 ir con mi amigo @nado-sw para ver c贸mo se encontraba la ciudad tras el sismo. Creo que lo m谩s impactante de recorrer la ciudad en situaciones como estas es detenerte a hablar con cada uno de tus conocidos y escuchar sus experiencias sobre este evento tan terrible. Encontramos a un hombre entrenando completamente solo en un parque de barras. El d铆a del terremoto tuvo que abandonar su moto, la cual no encend铆a; parece que el mismo temblor da帽贸 alg煤n mecanismo interno. Despu茅s de dejarla tirada, sali贸 corriendo a buscar a su mam谩 a su casa, una mujer mayor de 80 a帽os que sufre de Alzheimer y tiene problemas de tensi贸n. Aquel d铆a era una locura: ambulancias y veh铆culos de la polic铆a, gente desmayada en las calles y caos por todos lados.
鈥婬oy, sin embargo, todo conservaba una paz muy extra帽a. Casi no hab铆a nadie en las calles y pude fotografiar los lugares que presentaron da帽os por el terremoto. Afortunadamente, en mi ciudad no hubo v铆ctimas fatales, pero en otras partes de mi pa铆s todo qued贸 devastado: muchas personas murieron y otras est谩n bajo escombros esperando a ser rescatadas mientras escribo esto.
En mi caso, me resulta muy frustrante solo poder fotografiar los da帽os de la ciudad en la que vivo, sin poder ayudar a la gente que est谩 luchando por sobrevivir en otros lugares.
