Don't get me wrong, I love being a citizen of the planet of Terracore. But, and this is a big but, there's really nothing here besides scrap and the occasional remnant dry grass. Me, I've got my sights pointed up. You see that star? That big bright one? The newly discovered planet, Oceana, is in that system.
As the name suggests, the planet is mostly covered in vast oceans. It has a thick atmosphere, lush biosphere, and untold riches according to some. It seems to have everything Terra lacks. So what are we waiting for?
My interstellar ship, The Space Strider, could make the jump. The only thing is...err... I've got no fuel! I don't know where the traders get it or how they make it, but all the equipment they sell runs on a mysterious, volatile substance called FLUX. If I really wanted to, I could reverse engineer my Kevlar armor to salvage just enough flux to make it to the water world. It doesn't provide that much protection versus blaster fire anyway but I paid 100 scrap for it! Ideally I would like to keep purchasing mystery crates until I find more equipment I could use. However, every time I save up enough scrap, I wonder... What else could this be used for? Enhancing my skills or buying crates? Whichever I decide, it sets me back from my ultimate goal of traveling to Oceana quickly. I still need a ton of Favor from the lords before I cross their trade routes to get there, and I dare not do it without their favor. That would be like crossing the road unannounced AND blindfolded and then there's bits of me across 3 systems!
I only have 10% of the required Favor to allow access to Oceana.
If I'm very attentive (and lucky), I can manage to scrounge up about 20 scrap in a day. At that rate, if I'm consistent, I can possible have enough in about 1.5 standard galactic months. Sheesh! And I guess the first people that went to the planet discovered yet another potentially interesting planet some distance away. How exciting! But I can't get ahead of myself!
This is my current build. As you can see, I've invested plenty of scrap into my Engineering skill but anymore and those are potential crates I could be buying. My stats will probably stay this way for the time being. I was a little lost at first but in making this transmission I have decided that all my scrap will, from now on, go towards gaining more favor. I like to increase it by nice, even increments. Anything drops left over just go towards increasing my stash size. I am slightly bothered by the fact that my attack is only .1 units away from being at 80 though... It makes me wish I had a weapon. I will need a weapon once I get to Oceana. Word on the dunes is that there are huge monsters there that like to pick fights. Large, aggressive wildlife, you say? At least it's not after my scrap. I'll take that over another cunning miner any day! Oh! That reminds me. Wait one second while I stop to mine this rich scrap deposit. All done! With that, I am one step closer to making it off this rock. To those of you who are already off-world: how did you do it?!
