So do jacarandas prefer a little shade? I keep my only one in full sun. Hmm. Maybe you're on to something because I do remember mine drying out very fast in pervious summers and the very light "pot" being prone to typing over. I did a pretty haphazard job of root pruning last year (the entire pot was full of one massive yellow root ball) but it survived.
I still consider it a protobonsai though. I still want to further reduce the root system by about 2/3 but that's pushing it if doing in one go. Any advice?
Sometimes I feel like I'm in bonsai no man's land since I pretty much only work with atypical (exotic?) specimens with no examples to follow.
