Greetings, eXode pilots and civilians! Welcome to the ninth weekly eXode #oneup report! We are eagerly awaiting some new playable contents this week and in the coming week! Yesterday, we were also all surprised to see a new Special Trait on some of our cards! Read on to learn more!

A Glimpse Into Beta?

Apparently as an April Fool's joke (and in good taste if I may say so myself), two cards from our collections came down with a mysterious alien sickness. This was represented by the red tinge of the character and a green hue of the card itself, as well as the Special Trait: Alien Infested. The character also shows some sinister aspect in the eyes. As of now, we don't know what this will entail. Perhaps even the developer has not decided yet either. Elindos Phar was hinting at a future community questionnaire/opinions. Should people fight the aliens to the bitter end? Should we find ways to establish communications with them? Will some crew members "betray" mankind and defect to the alien forces? I, for one, like all of these ideas. I wouldn't mind becoming an alien pet! Perhaps the aliens will be picky on accepting defectors, possibly killing them on the spot. Or maybe those who are "infested" will have better chances of being integrated into the Alien Faction. All these April Fool's shenanigans only comprised 20 lines of code, so we're still on schedule.

I do not know if this was part of the April Fools joke or will apply to boosters in the future: Pre-Beta Boosters will have a 1% chance to be an Alien Booster and spawn infested characters in place of normal ones! If so, that would be really cool. I want some Infested variants of my cards to play around with! All infested characters (Stugs and Tyrons) have since shaken off the infestation and are as healthy as bulls now.

Planned Updates!

Registration for the Colonization Challenge is planned for this week! Players who participated in the Away Teams Alpha will be awarded Settler Points for their accomplishments. The Colonization Loop will be deployed in packages progressively.
Next week, we will hopefully see bigger parts of the Colonization Loop such as doctrines, research, and construction. This will come before returning back to Away Teams Step 2, with lots more added features. I'm looking forward to sending away teams in vehicles, though I'm not sure if that will be included just yet! I'm already saving an upgraded TOM Explorator to serve as the flagship exploration vehicle with a base version serving as the defense, loaded with gunners. I'm super excited about research (this is a lab report after all) but also construction. As you may know by now, planet Casrarene is rich in ore. I've already collected 9 units during the last few investigative ore missions. (Many missions failed to bring back anything though. Such is the way of things.)

Perhaps ore works differently but I feel like less properties are discovered per mission than for plant missions. Then again, plants also have biofragments involved. Sometimes my missions come back with just the "cuteness" and construction group revealed for example for a particular ore. I like that resources have a "cuteness" or likeability. I can't wait to see actual images of them!
