A purely randomly controlled process cannot increase in complexity and inevitably moves towards a dead state of maximal entropy. However, instead of entropy, we don't see uniformity of matter everywhere, but differentiation of properties.
Entropy is only possible in a mechanical universe with no latent background. More precisely, it represents a scientific certainty that cannot go beyond a given fact.
The Democritus atom could not overcome its utter passivity and produce anything qualitatively different. To illustrate this idea, we can ask ourselves if we can accept the idea that a universe made entirely of sugar and nothing else could turn into a salty, sour, or bitter universe. You can. But potential is not as simple a concept as it seems. Oak seeds are potentially oak, but not oak. How from something as small as a seed grows such a large and imposing tree is a mystery. . In fact it doesn't tell us anything.
