Hello, today I'm going to tell you a little bit about the things I heard when I was pregnant or in the first few months after the birth of my child. Now that I think about it they sound funny, some were funny even then. But now that time has passed I can express my opinion about what I heard without being so emotional.

When the baby is due

Especially if you are already in the 8th month this question becomes quite annoying. But it definitely made me laugh when they asked the girl we were in the same room with in labor and delivery this question. They had come to see her and she had decided to come down to the front of the building to her family. While she was in the elevator a man asked her "when is the baby due" and she replied "due a week ago but realistically 2 days ago".

I laughed a lot with her, we both gave birth with surgery and that laughter really hurt.

Don't worry about the weight during breastfeeding, it will disappear after you stop breastfeeding your child

A very brutal lie that hurts. But it might be down to body image. It's also possible for some women to get this miracle. You can see that you haven't increased the amount of food or calories and the weight is growing.

When the baby sleeps, you'll have time to ... run 15 loads of laundry, stretch them, cook 76577687 meals, get a haircut and manicure.

Unless I have at least 1-2 domestic helpers or clones of myself this is simply impossible. In the first few months, I wanted to sleep so much that I was willing to order prepared food so I didn't have to cook, and we used disposable utensils and plates at home. It didn't happen, but I was still going to do it if my powers weren't coming back.

My son didn't want to sleep in the same bed as me, so the moments that everyone talks about "getting in bed with your child and sleeping sweetly while cuddling" just weren't there. We each slept in our own bed and shuffled around as we pleased. Now that he's big he wants us to fall asleep together, or more accurately he wants me to fall asleep and run off to the toys...

Your breast milk is not nutritious

This is the thing that can break any mother, whether or not she has decided to breastfeed her child or will feed him formula. The very idea that someone tells you that you are unfit is horrible.

Hug your child more than 3 times a day

Are these people crazy! You're with your child all day, something hurts him and you'll just let him squirm instead of hugging and soothing him...

Baby should be allowed to be independent. You should only let him soothe himself when he cries.

A little overlap here with the above statement. If the baby is crying it means there is something where his diaper has gotten full and he wants to be changed, or he is hungry/thirsty, or he is awake and doesn't want to just be thrown into a neatly decorated room. It's little and now it's learning what surrounds it, it needs something familiar to soothe it, and what more familiar than its mother's heartbeat and heartbeat it heard for so many months when it was in her tummy.

But it all looks like your father

Hey, I've been wearing it for so many months and finally this is what you'll say. Yes it sounds funny but every mother secretly hopes that at least one trait the child will have that will resemble her.

There is a joke that goes around a lot on the internet
9 Months I Wore It
9 Months I Couldn't Sleep Because Of It
9 Months I prepared myself by picking out clothes, a crib and a stroller for the baby
And make it look just like its father

And what did you do all day that ... (something you didn't do)

I've had many occasions when I didn't have dinner ready at 5 or 6 pm and I've started preparing it after daddy got home. It doesn't work, being shouted at and cried at all day and not knowing what to do to calm the child down and ending up smiling and having a 5 course dinner menu ...

It's a lot of things we hear as mothers from other people. Interestingly, the comments that are the most spiteful and nasty have been from people who don't have kids. Don't have kids yet or have decided in general not to. I'm not mad at them. Someday this will come to a head and someone will come to them and say these things.

The important thing for me is to have a happy and healthy child who is interested in everything, not another zombified kid on a phone or tablet. We try to show him different games and activities, but he successfully makes up his own too. Sometimes I even wonder how I didn't think of this/that game and he made it up.

My son is still young, he's a 2 year old. There's still time to hear spiteful comments from enough people. Fortunately I respond to such comments with "OK" and a smile, and don't torture myself with what they've said.

Y qué hiciste todo el día que ... (algo que no has hecho)
