So something @acidyo said in his recent post here about curation, people’s reaction and many of us not knowing where the rewards come is what triggered me to come up with this post…
I have so much respect for the work done in curating post especially through @ocd. Truly it shows how much of a sacrifice you have made into making Hive what it is now.
Honestly, I know a lot of us complain, have worries and also feel jealous at the way posts are being curated at times. You see a post that shows little or no effort get high rewards and you see yours which required your sweat receive little or nothing at all.
At first, while I was new on Hive this really got to me. I would spend about 2 hours trying to come up with a reasonable and attractive content but would end up getting disappointed by the little response in terms I curation I received. I got discouraged and at a point lost motivation to come here and create contents. But I learnt somethings along the line which I'll share below:
Many of those who receive high Hive rewards on their posts consistently have actually paid huge sacrifices to get to where they are. It took them consistency, hard work and dedication. And they were presently only reaping the fruits of their past labours.
One has to therefore think long term, giving patience and dedicating one’s time and also resources to ensuring that the Hive platform grows by engaging it out there massively and contributing quality in it.
Also I had to keep in mind the fact that there are actually curation rules. If these weren’t regularized, I don’t really think beginners would stand a chance growing.
Another thing I keep in mind is the Hive Platform is not a get rich quick scheme. In fact, I don’t see it fist as a money making platform, I see it as a blogging platform that’s quite unique from others. It’s more of a community than a blogging site alone.
The knowledge that Hive is a blockchain and its decentralized is very is very important. If you don’t presently have the understanding of what those two words mean, I suggest you try to find out. Preferably, I could write on those two topics later on to broaden beginners understanding on that.
Then most importantly, grow, make friends, communicate, relate, partner and associate. These are very key for every Hivian.
That's what I've actually learnt in my little time here...
Therefore, lets work together as @acidyo has said and make the Hive community a better and stronger one.
