Once planted, the Bluestar can remain in the same place for years and needs little care. It is important that the soil in spring is fresh but not wet, because the onions do not tolerate too much moisture. As with all bulbous plants, the foliage should not be removed until it has yellowed. Regular fertilization is not required in normal garden soil. Especially in the harsh climate, covering with foliage can be beneficial during the winter. However, it must be removed in time if the plants expire in early spring.
