Yesterday I went out because I saw a glimpse of sunrays and because of fallen snow, everything looked so bright without checking the exact temperature. The biggest mistake I have done so far of not checking the outside temperature. My home was warm, cozy because of the heating system and the window was closed so far for a long time. It seemed I have sealed the window for a long period and Gigi, my dog doesn't like that at all. She feels depressed about staying at home for a long time because she loves snow. She always stares outside through the window and her silence always forces me to take her out. This is her sign of saying " please take me out, I wanna explore". I prefer staying at home instead of becoming a white walker but her silent regret always pushes me to take her out.
Anyway, I wore warm clothes obviously and my weight became double because of the weight of the clothes. I looked at the mirror and saw a reflection of an Eskimo instead of myself. It's okay, I can avoid fashion now because I don't wanna get sick. After leaving the apartment building, I realized my jacket is not providing enough warmth as I expected. So, what exactly happened? Then I checked the temperature and it's -20 degrees celsius. I laugh at my foolishness and then decided to move on.
While walking on the road, I realized there is no one around except me. It was Saturday so obviously, it's weekend but looks like everyone preferred staying at home instead of roaming around. I was hearing the sharp crisp and cracking sound of the snow and ice and my lips suddenly became frozen. The weather was completely dry, frozen and the freezing breeze made my walk harder.
After leaving my neighborhood area, I went to a small park. There were many coffee shops around the park so I had decided to spend some time there with a cup of Latte. Yes, I am a latte fan for more than Cappucino nowadays. Oh, ya I forgot to mention, my phone already became frozen and the touch screen was not working properly. I was confused because I was thinking that, was that my phone that was not working or was that my hand which already frozen and had become a hard red piece of ice?
A cup of Coffee helped me a lot otherwise I would have been stuck on the street because I barely was able to move my body. What a great experience. I used to think snow looks beautiful and the people who live in a winter country, they are lucky because they can see the white snow. All Bollywood movie stars act like they don't care about the coldness of white snow. They dance in the snow, play with the snow, and crawl in the snow. Silly me who used to believe these things.
I selected a bench, cleaned the fallen snow, and sat on that. Everything was so calm and quiet but this area was not supposed to be like this. It was a crowded area but due to harsh weather and lockdown, everything turned into a zombie acropolis. I was not allowed to sit inside the coffee shop so I had to sit outside.
I am a girl from monsoon climate country, our country people from our country never saw snow even never experienced minus temperature and here I am walking outside in -20 degree celsius which sounds crazy but this is the reality.
After finishing my coffee I decided to go home because my hand was still in pain and I felt tears are dropping from my eyes because of the pain but slowly turning into ice. I haven't experience the real cold of Ukraine except for today, yes it was -20 degrees before also but I was at home.
I am not brave enough to put myself into such a low temperature because no matter how many clothes I wear, I will still feel the painful cold.
