Those who follow my blog posts or photography posts may already know that how much I love playing with dark themes. It's not like I don't like colors or brightness but in a dark theme, there is something and playing with it is challenging. I have written before that most of the time whenever I play with dark themes don't see desired or expected results. Not all photographs are meant for dark mode.
Nowadays not only I play with the dark and matte themes, but I also try to play artistic effects as well. I don't like to make a photo completely abstract because I don't wanna lose the complete shape and form of the picture. I am more like that person who likes the subject but like to play the surroundings of the subject.
A few days ago while walking on the street, I have found this poppy flower. There were a bunch of them that were already dead and some of them were about to die. They were fully bloomed and I have never seen poppy so closely and thoroughly before. At a first glance, they looked like hibiscus to me but later when I noticed them properly, I came to know that they are poppy flowers.
It was a shady area plus it was about to get dark when I was there. So there was no sunlight but the bright red color caught my eyes.
After coming home, I started browsing the internet to see how people present poppy flowers and understood most people love bright colors and sunlight, and colorful themes. I was not so sure how I am going to present these beauties because red color is my weakness and I don't play nicely with red. I mean I can't edit the pictures without destroying the uniqueness of red and for me, it's a tough job. Most of the time my red becomes either too bright or too pink(magenta) and because of the HDR effect of my phone, the red color changes completely than reality.
I am going to share original pictures as well so that you can compare both...
Let me know what you guys think... Maybe I should have tried a brighter version than going for the dark theme or maybe the original pictures are better than the edited ones. I am a little bit confuse this time but will figure it out next time...
