Agree with you, let me explain to you more elaborately. Students who come here for graduation for 4-6 years get the temporary resident card from university but those who come here for 1.5 years post-graduation course don't get enough time to settle down. Immigration takes 3-4 months to give temporary resident cards so they only get 1 year and then they have to leave. Only 2 ways are open, either you have to take another course or you have to take the permanent resident card for 10 years which cost thousand of dollars and takes time as well. Otherwise, you have to go back to your country and can return after 3 months with the new visa.

Here is the twist part, it's not easy to come back here once again if you leave especially for some specific country's passport holders.

Those who have a spouse or a child with Ukrainian citizenship can come back but again twist. It depends on which country passport you are holding and sometimes Embassy decides whether they will give you the visa or not... In general, if you are holding those specific country's passport, you are fucked because once you leave there is no guarantee you can return here or not.

Passport reissue is something else and for example, my Embassy is in Poland so there is nothing that can be done from Ukraine so far. Either I have to go to my country to reissue my passport or I have to contact Poland. Officially it says, 3 months needed for passport renewal/reissue minimum according to my country's law but it takes 5-6 months. Time is very precious, sometimes fines can't save an immigrant and force them to stay like refugees/special permission but have to spend thousand of dollars.

University doesn't take so many responsibilities all the time if there is an immigration issue or visa expiration...

Basic rules are not applicable always if a country is corrupted...
