This reunion party isn't about me, but a shared one!

I have never attended a reunion party before and I wished I could attend so that I could meet my old time friends and reunite with my schoolmates again. Ever since I graduated from secondary school in the year 2010, we all went on separate ways with different paths to our careers. I missed many of them and I wished I could just meet them again to get their contact and we can keep up with each other.

There was a time I received a call from a close friend back in secondary school and she said she got my number on Facebook. I was surprised and we planned to meet because we were both in the same state but in different cities, but at that time, I was so occupied with my Aunt's laundry business that I never called her back so we can meet until I left the city completely.

Two years ago, my elder sister narrated her reunion party to me and my younger sister and how it turned out to be a surprise for her because she never thought something like that could come up, but it was all fun even though it was a funny moment to me.

According to my sister, she got a call from a long-time friend. We all know this lady so much because we lived together in our hometown with grandma and her parents. Their room was next to us and she and my sister went to the same boarding school in Kwara State. It was a girls' college. Automatically, we are family friends.

My sister said she picked up the call and it was this lady whom she had lost contact with for many years since everyone had gone their different ways. After many talks and gisting, she invited my sister to her wedding and she made her promise that she would be coming. She agreed and she started getting prepared for the day. Little did she know other colleagues would also show up but it wasn't disclosed to my sister.

I was the one who got her clothes from this lady and delivered them to someone in Lagos so it could get to her. Getting to the venue of the wedding, she was led to a particular seat where she couldn't believe her eyes when she saw different familiar faces and the ones she didn't have contact with.

She said she leapt for Joy seeing them and they all hugged each other. She saw her friends from Primary School too which she never expected to see. After the wedding, they decided to wait till the next day so they could talk and enjoy the moment before they depart again.

They all flashed back to the past and how they used pure water to bathe when there was a lack of water. They had to use their drinking water which was pure water to brush and bathe. I was shocked to hear that but it was a tough moment for them as students, especially girls who need to take care of themselves well.

She talked about how she brought the idea of biscuits cake and taught everyone how to make it. She did it once at home and we all enjoyed the biscuits cake too. The cake was made purely with Biscuits and other ingredients. I can't remember the process again.

They mimicked their teachers and other seniors who took life seriously then and would punish them for any offence they make. After that, they shared how life had been for them. They talked about the career they are pursuing now and how things have been difficult and easier for them.

I felt emotional while she was saying that and in the end, they ate, drank and prayed together. Before leaving, everyone made sure they collected each other's contact and till today, they still chat and call themselves.

How I wish I would get to see my classmates and plan for a reunion party because there are these two ladies I needed to see if they are still alive. Though, I wish everyone the best even though it's been many years now. Everyone would have changed. While some would have travelled abroad, others could still be in Nigeria and would have gotten married. Just like my close friend who called then, she has two kids already.

Thanks for your time
